At Maes yr Haul Primary School we consider ourselves to be a Professional Learning Community. The Professional Learning Community is seen as a powerful staff development approach and strategy for school change and improvement. It is our aim as a staff to seek and share learning, and then act on what we learn. The goal of our actions is to enhance our effectiveness as professionals so that pupils benefit. This goal has resulted in the development of 5 Learning Teams which embrace the Foundation Phase areas of learning for 3 to 7 year olds and Key Stage 2 curriculum subjects for 7 to 11 year olds.

These Learning Teams are proving to be successful. Members of staff work together – not in isolation. They are given opportunities to work with other members of staff. They are able to contribute their expertise to areas of the curriculum and not just to one subject.
